This third book of the trilogy becomes a real page turner. Pearson has the knack of ending each chapter with something that stuns and makes you immediately want to know what is next. I didn't know how he could bring this potentially tragic story to a satisfying end, but he did. Overall the trilogy is powerful. A social statement of 1525, the themes ring true today. The characters are so well developed, by the end of the book you know them well and care about them. Parts are heartbreaking and discouraging, parts are uplifting and hopeful. Under all runs a strong current that encourages us all to be moral people and behave as children of God. Great series!
Good series! Historical background adds to drama but a lot of brutal battle descriptions stretch out the story.
The hope deep in man is painted beautifully in this third book of the Villeins story. Wrapping the delightfully created characters in the bigger picture of the Amish Mennonite songbook is magnificent.
